I’m writing about IMPACT. There will be a meeting of all the member congregations next week, Tuesday March 28, to plan for the Nehemiah Action, our big annual meeting where we address important social problems with our decision-makers present. On Tuesday IMPACT leaders will present updates on research. This year we have two issues. Two years ago we pressed Region Ten, the City, and the County to plan for residential substance abuse treatment for women in our community. Currently the nearest residential treatment for women is 70 miles away. There is now a plan for a treatment center here, and groundbreaking is expected soon. Our newest issue is pressing for more affordable housing for seniors. In our region, 6100 senior households struggle to keep a roof over their heads.
On Tuesday people will discuss making calls and encouraging people to come to the Action. Heena will be giving the closing charge and prayer.
It will be 6:30-8:00 at Church of the Incarnation. It will start with congregational caucuses, and I will lead ours.
