Holy_QuAQ (Questions Answers Questions): Jewish and Otherwise – on Shabbat, 2/27, 1-1:45PM

Greetings, dear Friends,
I have been a curious questioner all my life, seeking to understand human nature and how the world works, in general.  I’ve explored and followed fertile paths of inquiry and discovered some fascinating and useful ways to make sense of myself, other people, Judaism, other traditions and more.  I would love to share some of what I’ve uncovered and continue the exploration with you.

Hence, I’m introducing: Holy_QuAQ: Questions, Answers, Questions – Jewish and Otherwise.

First session: Shabbat, 2/27, approximately 1-1:45.

Holy_QuAQ #1
Qu: Why do we call group worship “services?”
An answer: For Jews, it has to do with the Hebrew word, “Avodah,” the original Temple worship practice, and its evolution over time.
Q: How does our Shabbat Morning Service correspond – or not – to Avodah?

Please see the attached chart for my chart of the Shabbat morning service. It includes the traditional structure and content, plus our expression of the Avodah for Shabbat Morning.  Please feel free to print your own copy.  Handouts will be available.

If you are interested in learning about the structure of our Shabbat morning Avodah, please join me in the lounge at 1PM.

With blessings,
Heena
